Natixis backs $510 million financing for Mexico's La Esperanza solar project

Natixis Corporate & Investment Banking said it is supporting Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners, through its Growth Markets Funds II, on $510 million of project financing for La Esperanza Solar in Mexico. Natixis CIB is acting as Joint Bookrunner, Joint Lead Arranger and Green Loan Coordinator for the utility-scale hybrid solar and battery energy storage project in the Yucatan Peninsula. The project has been designated strategic by Mexico's Ministry of Energy, or SENER (Mexico's energy ministry), and is expected to help ease grid congestion and meet rising power demand with 420 MWdc of installed solar photovoltaic capacity and a 150 MW, 5-hour battery energy storage system. The companies framed the transaction as a milestone for one of the first projects to receive that strategic designation and as CIP's first project in Mexico to begin construction.
