Anthropic PBC has reached a $9.1 billion agreement with Riot Platforms Inc., according to people familiar with the matter, linking the artificial intelligence company to a 20-year power arrangement at the Bitcoin miner's Rockdale, Texas campus. Riot disclosed earlier Monday that it had signed a 20-year contract to supply 191 megawatts of power capacity from the site to a "leading frontier AI company," and the people said that customer is Anthropic. The deal highlights how Bitcoin mining operators are increasingly trying to monetize large power footprints by serving AI data center demand.
