Economist Peter Schiff criticized President Donald Trump over Truth Social's new Truth API service, which gives paying customers machine-readable access to selected posts milliseconds before regular users and charges $60,000 to $100,000 a month. Schiff argued the arrangement is not comparable to ordinary commercial data feeds because Trump owns Trump Media and Technology Group Corp. (DJT), the parent of Truth Social, while his posts have repeatedly moved financial markets. Trump Media said on its second-quarter earnings call on Monday that it has signed more than 10 customer agreements, mostly with high-frequency trading firms (speed-focused trading firms), and interim CEO Kevin McGurn called criticism of the service "misinformed." He said licensed real-time public data delivered through commercial APIs (software connections for data access) is a well-established business practice and that the feed is only "fractionally faster" than what regular users see. The service has also drawn scrutiny from Democratic Senators Adam Schiff of California and Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts, who want the Securities and Exchange Commission (U.S. markets regulator) to investigate whether the setup could harm market integrity. The debate comes as Trump Media reports steep losses despite rising revenue, with a second-quarter net loss of more than $238 million, revenue of $1.7 million, and its shares closing 8.03% lower at $9.39 on Monday before slipping another 0.53% to $9.34 after hours.
