Manus is returning to independent operations after a group of its previous major shareholders, including Tencent, ZhenFund and Sequoia China, repurchased Manus shares from Meta for $2 billion, according to Caixin. The transaction price was said to be close to the acquisition price announced by the U.S. social media technology giant in December 2025. Benchmark, which had been Manus's largest shareholder before the acquisition, is not participating in the buyback. Its earlier stake will be acquired by Tencent, positioning Tencent to become Manus's largest shareholder. Manus is currently operating normally. The company had previously said it would resume independent operations and asked some users to back up their data before Aug. 23.
