South Korea has created a special gift tax exemption that spares SK Hynix an estimated ₩90 billion, or about $63.6 million, burden tied to its contribution to Trinity Fab, a semiconductor testbed at the Yongin Semiconductor General Industrial Complex. The move forms part of the government's "Field-Oriented Corporate Investment and Innovation Support Plan," announced on the 13th, which aims to bring forward roughly ₩4.3 trillion in corporate investment stalled by regulation and permitting. The policy shift comes as the KOSPI, after more than doubling from the start of the year and topping 9,000 in mid-June, has swung violently, dropping to the 5,500 level within weeks before recovering to around 6,800, leaving leveraged retail investors facing deep losses and margin pressure.
