The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission canceled a Friday open meeting that had been expected to address potential cryptocurrency rulemaking, including whether to propose a tailored offering regime for certain investment contracts involving crypto assets. The agency said the meeting was moved because of an unforeseen scheduling issue. The cancellation comes as the Senate departed for its August recess without voting on the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act, a bill aimed at creating a broader framework for financial regulators overseeing the crypto industry. SEC Chair Paul Atkins had said on CNBC on July 27 that the commission was ready to issue digital-asset rules if the Senate did not pass the CLARITY Act.
