The U.S. Justice Department has set out the investigative agenda for its newly formed National Fraud Enforcement Division, giving the unit a broad mandate over criminal fraud enforcement. A Thursday memo from Colin McDonald, the assistant attorney general of the division, said the team will prioritize cases involving public trust, healthcare, internal revenue, global trade and commerce, and corporate misconduct. In healthcare, the division will examine marketing of unsafe products and services that deceive consumers. The memo also said the Fraud and Enforcement Division will lead the department’s criminal enforcement strategy, including trade and customs violations and forced labor in supply chains.
