European stocks rise as Stoxx 50 nears record, argenx jumps over 7%

European stocks moved higher on Monday, keeping the region's main benchmarks close to record levels as a global equity rally extended and energy markets started the week without major disruption despite continued attention on the Middle East. The Stoxx 50 rose around 0.3% and the Stoxx 600 added about 0.2%, while easing expectations of a Federal Reserve rate hike at its September meeting supported risk appetite. Basic resources led gains, with Antofagasta, Hochschild Mining and Glencore each up more than 2% as metals prices strengthened. Technology stocks also advanced and energy shares edged higher. Among individual movers, argenx surged more than 7% after positive topline results from a Phase 3 trial of efgartigimod, while ASML Holding gained more than 2.5% and AstraZeneca rose over 1%.
