Japan's Nikkei 225 Index fell 0.4% to below 69,000 on Tuesday, giving back part of the previous session's gains as rising global bond yields renewed concern about inflation and higher government spending. Sentiment was further weakened by Japan's benchmark 10-year government bond yield climbing to around 2.95%, its highest level in three decades, amid mounting fiscal concerns and expectations that the Bank of Japan (Japan's central bank) could raise interest rates soon. Technology and consumer stocks led the decline, with Tokyo Electron, Advantest, Lasertec, Fast Retailing and Nintendo all lower. In corporate news, Nvidia agreed to invest as much as $105 billion to support SB Energy, a SoftBank Group subsidiary developing a major data center project in Ohio for OpenAI.
