Manufacturing output, which accounts for about 78% of total industrial production, rose 0.2% in July after a 0.3% increase in June, matching forecasts, while manufacturing excluding motor vehicles and parts climbed 0.4%. Mining production increased 1.3%. Meanwhile, mining output grew 0.2% and utilities output rose 0.5%, with electric and natural gas utilities posting similarly sized gains. Capacity utilization edged up to 76.3%, remaining 3.1 percentage points below its long-run 1972-2025 average.
