He called for stronger oversight without restricting the AI industry, saying the United States currently leads the world in AI. Trump urged the government to accelerate data-center and related power infrastructure, noting that AI companies are building new generation facilities rather than relying on aging grids. He also asked state and local officials to support AI data-center projects, which he said could create jobs, tax revenue and investment. Trump acknowledged growing public opposition in some areas over the facilities’ electricity consumption, water use and environmental effects.
