Inflation-adjusted US personal spending was unchanged month-on-month in July 2026 after rising 0.4% in June. Goods spending declined 0.6%, reversing June’s 0.6% increase, as spending on gasoline and other energy goods fell 0.1% versus a 2.5% rise, motor vehicles and parts dropped 1.6% versus a 1.2% increase, and recreational goods and vehicles fell 2.9% versus a 0.1% gain. Services spending rose 0.3%, slowing from 0.4% in June, with weaker growth in healthcare, transportation, recreation, and financial services and insurance. Housing and utilities services spending edged up 0.1% after being unchanged in June.
