STL (NSE: STLTECH) said it has advanced its decarbonisation and Net-Zero ambitions by moving all four of its manufacturing plants in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar (Aurangabad), Maharashtra, to electricity sourced from 100% Green Power generated by wind and solar through Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL). The transition is expected to reduce market-based Scope 2 emissions by about 65% in its optical fibre and optical fibre cable plants. STL has also integrated 100% Green Hydrogen into glass manufacturing, a high-energy stage of optical fibre production, and offers a range of Eco-labelled Certified Optical Products following life cycle assessment work. Its G.657.A2 optical fibre, used extensively in data center and telecom networks, now has a carbon footprint of 0.9 kilograms of CO2e per fibre kilometre, down 80% from 4.7 kilograms. The company also updated its corporate mobility policy with dedicated incentives and higher limits for employees choosing electric and hybrid vehicles, aiming to reduce its Scope 3 operational carbon footprint and advance its broader ESG goals.
