Strategy co-founder and former CEO Michael Saylor posted a cryptic message on X alongside a chart showing more than 110 Bitcoin purchases over the past six years, prompting speculation that the company may have resumed its Bitcoin accumulation. Strategy’s latest announced purchase came on June 22, covering the week of June 15 to 21, after which it paused buying for two months and announced a couple of sales. The company instead focused on rebuilding its U.S. dollar reserves, which rose above $6.5 billion last week. That total included a new USD Cash program holding $1.59 billion and a regular dollar reserve of $5.1 billion. Strategy also continued repurchasing STRC, its high-yield variable-rate preferred stock, which recovered from $75 several months ago to above $97 last week after trading well below its $100 par price. Some users expect a new Bitcoin purchase announcement on Monday, while others interpret Saylor’s message as referring to Strategy’s Bitcoin holdings becoming profitable. Bitcoin climbed from below $65,000 to above $78,500 over the past week and a half, putting Strategy’s average-cost position of $75,653 per Bitcoin into profit for the first time since May. The position had been more than $10 billion underwater on paper until several weeks ago. Current CEO Phong Le recently indicated that Strategy could resume buying Bitcoin by the end of the year, without giving further details.
