A Solana token promoted by the verified X account and website of Real Trump Coins briefly reached a market capitalization of about $66 million on Aug. 29, 2026, before losing roughly 99% of its value within minutes. The licensed physical gold-and-silver merchandise brand, which President Trump promoted in 2024, said it had not authorized GOLD and blamed third-party bad actors. On-chain data showed the developer and 15 newly created wallets controlled 82.45% of the supply, then sold 824.54 million GOLD for approximately 9,784 SOL, worth about $1.01 million at the time. Real Trump Coins deleted the promotional posts and said it was working with authorities, but no named law-enforcement agency had publicly confirmed an investigation. The brand’s denial left unresolved whether its account or website had been hacked or otherwise accessed by a third party. GOLD was separate from Trump’s official $TRUMP meme coin, launched in January 2025, and World Liberty Financial’s USD1 stablecoin. The collapse highlights the risks of relying on social-media endorsements rather than checking token ownership concentration and issuer authorization.
