LIV Golf may file for bankruptcy protection as soon as next week as it seeks funding to continue with a reduced version of the league in 2027, the Financial Times reported Monday. Players owed millions of dollars in guaranteed payouts have reportedly received settlement offers worth only a few cents on the dollar. The league has been negotiating with private capital firm BC Partners after Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund withdrew financial support earlier this year. Funding efforts have been complicated by difficulties securing enough player commitments for LIV 2.0. BC Partners is reportedly waiting for clarity on player payments and the structure of any bankruptcy. LIV Golf canceled two events during the 2026 season, told employees last week that it was reducing operations and terminating staff, and faces lawsuits from multiple vendors seeking unpaid amounts.
