The Democratic Party of Korea said on the 3rd that it would not place three housing supply-related bills on that day’s National Assembly plenary agenda. The party will monitor negotiations between the Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport before deciding how to proceed, saying substantial measures are needed. The bills are the Urban and Residential Environment Improvement Act, the Urban Redevelopment Promotion Act and the Yongsan Park Special Act. The National Assembly’s first plenary session after the opening ceremony of the regular session is scheduled for the afternoon, with about 17 bills, including the Itaewon Disaster Special Act, expected to be processed. Real estate-related bills will not be included. The party also rejected reports that it had submitted supplementary real estate-tax measures to the government, including raising the comprehensive real estate tax basic deduction for non-residential single-homeowners to 1.4 billion Korean won and delaying the abolition of the special tax deduction for long-term holdings. Kwon Chil-seung, the party’s policy committee chairman, said the Democratic Party’s Housing Market Stabilization Task Force (TF) had never submitted such measures and urged caution over the reports.
