European natural gas prices have stabilized around €73–74 per megawatt-hour after former U.S. President Donald Trump suggested that recent U.S. military strikes on Iran would be short-lived. The Dutch TTF natural gas benchmark, a key European pricing indicator, remains at levels not seen since early 2023 and near its highest point since January 2023. Market participants appear to view Trump’s comments as reducing the immediate risk of a prolonged conflict, which could otherwise increase energy-market volatility. Current pricing gives crude oil a 1.6% probability of reaching a new all-time high by September 30. Traders will monitor further U.S.-Iran military or diplomatic developments, as well as comments from OPEC’s Secretary General Mohammad Sanusi Barkindo and Saudi Energy Minister Abdulaziz bin Salman Al Saud.
