Broadcom CEO Hock Tan said Anthropic and OpenAI are the only two of the company’s six major AI chip customers requiring financing to support their infrastructure expansion. Funding is provided through the XPV platform, a financing vehicle launched in June with Apollo Global Management and Blackstone, and includes a closed $35 billion first tranche linked to Anthropic’s initial 1-gigawatt deployment. Tan said each gigawatt of compute deployed by Anthropic and OpenAI could generate roughly $30 billion in annual revenue. He also said Anthropic is on track to become Broadcom’s largest custom AI-chip customer in 2027 and retain that position through 2028. Broadcom exceeded third-quarter revenue and adjusted earnings estimates, while its fourth-quarter revenue forecast was slightly below expectations.
