Torrid Holdings Inc. shares rose 12.83% to $2.52 in Thursday after-hours trading after the California-based women's apparel retailer reported second-quarter earnings per share of $0.05, beating the $0.01 analyst estimate by 400%. Revenue for the quarter ended Aug. 1 fell 11.8% year over year to $231.73 million, below the $242.11 million estimate, while net income more than tripled to $5.2 million. An $11.4 million International Emergency Economic Powers Act tariff refund helped increase gross margin to 38.7% from 35.6% and contributed to the company's higher full-year guidance. Torrid now expects net sales of $940 million to $960 million and Adjusted EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization) of $76 million to $86 million, although CEO Lisa Harper said the outlook increase reflected only the tariff benefit. The company expects next-quarter sales of $230 million to $235 million and Adjusted EBITDA of $15 million to $20 million.
