Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse’s formal appointment to the CFTC Innovation Advisory Committee is drawing more attention than a White House photograph showing him standing beside President Donald Trump. The real Aug. 19 image was taken during the committee’s launch in the Roosevelt Room, not the Oval Office, as the official White House gallery states. The White House separately confirmed that Garlinghouse attended that day. The CFTC appointed him alongside executives from Coinbase, Nasdaq, CME Group, Cboe, DTCC, Grayscale, Franklin Templeton and other major financial and crypto companies. The committee advises on technology, law, policy and financial markets. Garlinghouse was first named to the body in February, and its charter was renewed on Aug. 19. The development comes as Washington debates the CLARITY Act, legislation intended to establish clearer federal jurisdiction over digital assets, which Garlinghouse has repeatedly supported. XRP traded around $1.45 on Sept. 4 after rising roughly 7.4% the previous day. The broader crypto market was also advancing, so the move cannot automatically be attributed to Garlinghouse’s White House comments. U.S. XRP ETFs have also recorded an 11-session inflow streak, with reported holders including Goldman Sachs, Jane Street and Millennium Management. The broader shift reflects Ripple’s growing involvement in discussions around U.S. crypto regulation and XRP market access.
