Shiba Inu is gaining potential access to Japan's future crypto ETF market after the National Diet moved crypto assets under the Financial Instruments and Exchange Act (FIEA), the law governing stocks. The July 15, 2026 reclassification establishes a framework for separate crypto taxation and future exchange-traded funds, although Financial Services Agency rulemaking is still required. Mazrael, a longtime Shiba Inu community member, said first listings could come in 2027 at the earliest, with Bitcoin expected to lead. SHIB's inclusion on Japan's regulatory Green List in November 2025, alongside BTC and ETH, and its June 2026 listing on Mercari, which has 23 million users, give it an early position. Japan had 4 million crypto accounts, 85% opened by people who had never traded before, according to Mazrael's summary. SHIB still lacks a dedicated spot ETF in the United States, but Mazrael described it as well on track based on a European exchange-traded product, regulated access in Japan and newly available futures exposure in Canada.
