Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs diverged sharply on September 2, with Bitcoin products recording net inflows of 398 BTC, worth roughly $31 million, while Ethereum products saw outflows of 19,667 ETH, approximately $48 million. The Ethereum withdrawal ended a 12-session inflow streak. Weekly figures were less negative for Ethereum: Bitcoin ETFs accumulated 8,937 BTC, while Ethereum ETFs recorded a net positive inflow of 15,939 ETH. Bitcoin ETFs took in $101 million on September 2 and $175 million on September 4, bringing net inflows for the week ending September 4 to nearly $987 million. Cumulative net inflows into U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs have exceeded $55 billion since their January 2024 debut. BlackRock, Fidelity and Grayscale remain the leading issuers, with BlackRock’s IBIT, ETHA and ETHB products consistently leading daily volume and investor flows. Grayscale’s converted trust products have higher fees than newer competitors, a structure that has historically contributed to persistent outflows as investors move toward cheaper alternatives. The September split reflects the broader volatility in 2026 crypto ETF flows, with record outflows in June and strong inflow periods in April and August. Fund flows continue to track investor risk appetite and interest-rate expectations.
