Texas PAC, affiliated with the Senate Leadership Fund, booked more than $51 million in advertising on Friday to support Republican Senate nominee Ken Paxton in Texas. The race has become a concern for Republicans seeking to retain control of the Senate as Paxton faces well-funded Democratic opponent James Talarico in a close contest. More than $23 million had already been booked for Paxton by six other Republican groups from Sept. 1 through Election Day, giving Paxton and Republican allies a 5-to-1 advertising advantage, according to media tracking firm AdImpact. The roughly $75 million total excludes part of a $10 million Texas advertising purchase disclosed last week by President Trump’s super PAC (political action committee) and more than $2 million in voter-contact spending from Elon Musk’s super PAC. Paxton had spent months as a major financial underdog after defeating Senator John Cornyn in the primary with President Trump’s support. The Senate Leadership Fund had omitted Texas from its April spending plans, but Republican pressure to intervene increased over subsequent months. Alex Latcham, the head of the Senate Leadership Fund, said Friday that the purchase affirmed the group’s commitment to maintaining the Republican majority.
