Grayscale's Bitcoin-free portfolio assigns XRP 26.11%, Ether 42.34%

  • Grayscale assigned XRP 26.11% of its Bitcoin-free Digital Assets Next Gen model portfolio.
  • Ether held 42.34%, above Grayscale's advertised 40% maximum allocation.
  • Seven funds comprised the model as of August 31, with quarterly rebalancing.

Grayscale launched four model portfolios on Monday, September 14, 2026, giving financial advisors ready-made crypto allocations that can be copied into client accounts using the firm’s funds. Its Bitcoin-free Digital Assets Next Gen portfolio held seven funds as of August 31, with Ether at 42.34%, XRP at 26.11% and Solana at 21.09%. Those three assets represented roughly 89% of the basket. Hyperliquid accounted for 5.76%, while Chainlink, Avalanche and Sui made up the remainder. Grayscale caps any single asset at 40% and resets the weights every three months, but Ether had already exceeded that threshold since the model began on July 27. XRP was trading near $1.42, up about 5% on the day and ranked fifth by market value. The Grayscale XRP Trust ETF was 38.51% below its launch price, while BeInCrypto reported that the trust sold $180 million in tokens during the first half of the year at a realized loss. Six of the seven funds traded below their starting prices, although the model had posted a 30.69% net gain since July 27, based on five weeks of history and one strong August. Grayscale charges no separate fee for the models, and the underlying funds average 0.23%.
