A Bitcoin holder moved 1,604 coins worth about $122.1 million between two unidentified wallets on Sept. 16, just hours before the Federal Open Market Committee was scheduled to announce its interest-rate decision. Whale Alert flagged the transfer at 12:20 UTC, when Bitcoin traded near $76,052; the fee was just 0.000001 BTC and neither address was identified as an exchange. Markets broadly expected a 25-basis-point increase, lifting the federal funds target range from 3.50%-3.75% to 3.75%-4.00%, while attention focused on Chair Kevin Warsh's guidance on future tightening. Crypto markets were also absorbing the Senate's 49-50 failure to advance the CLARITY Act, which needed 60 votes and was intended to clarify digital-asset oversight between the SEC and CFTC (U.S. derivatives regulator). Bitcoin was trading near $75,910 at the time of writing after briefly falling below $76,000, while Ether was flat and XRP edged lower. The market's response may depend more on the Fed's forward guidance than on the widely anticipated increase itself, leaving the whale transfer's market significance unresolved.
