President Lee Jae Myung said a ticket scalper was arrested for reselling tickets to idol performances, overseas singers’ concerts in Korea and sports events at prices of up to 30 times face value, generating billions of won. Writing on X, formerly Twitter, on the 17th, Lee said the Revised Public Performance Act was already producing results and warned that people pursuing illicit profits through scalping would face greater consequences. The law, implemented from August 28, expanded restrictions beyond macro-assisted ticket sales to cover both unfair purchases and unfair sales meeting defined criteria. Unfair purchases include obtaining tickets by bypassing or obstructing the fair purchasing process established by the original seller with the intention of resale.
