Italy’s cybercrime police had opened an investigation by the 16th into suspected hijacking of government-certified email accounts, known as PEC, and their alleged use to obtain Revolut customer information. The case is believed to involve unauthorized access and fraud. Revolut said its systems and databases were secure. Italy’s cybersecurity authority warned in June that it had handled more than 650 cases involving PEC misuse since the start of 2026.
