Dogecoin cofounder Billy Markus, known as Shibetoshi Nakamoto on X, drew crypto-market attention with the post "We're So Back?" on September 18, 2026. The message appeared as most cryptocurrencies traded higher, with Bitcoin up 5% and Ethereum nearly 6% over 24 hours, while Avalanche, Ethena, Morpho, Filecoin, Injective and VeChain gained between 14% and 22%. Dogecoin rose nearly 4% to $0.088. The Crypto Fear and Greed Index remained in greed, reflecting stronger market sentiment, although Markus offered no explanation and did not identify Dogecoin, Bitcoin or any other cryptocurrency. The market rebound followed the Federal Reserve's decision Wednesday to raise its benchmark rate by a quarter-percentage point to a range of 3.75% to 4%. The failure of the Clarity Act bill earlier in the week did not prevent Bitcoin and altcoins from rising toward the weekend. Glassnode said altcoin leverage remained below its risk threshold, while the usual overheating condition—altcoin open interest approaching Bitcoin's within a few percentage points—was not present. Bitcoin also reclaimed the True Market Mean, a reference level that placed its price back above a key threshold and in a bullish regime. These indicators pointed to a potential further advance for altcoins and an imminent price move, while investors may remain focused on how much higher interest rates could rise.
