US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent will meet Vice Premier He Lifeng at JPMorgan Chase headquarters in New York on Sunday to discuss AI security, trade and other economic issues. The 10:30 a.m. ET meeting comes days before President Donald Trump is scheduled to host Chinese President Xi Jinping at the White House in Washington on Thursday and Friday. JPMorgan is providing the venue but is not involved in the talks. The meeting is being held there amid heightened Manhattan security for the United Nations General Assembly, which starts next week. Bessent previously invited JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon to a G20 (Group of 20 major economies) finance leaders meeting hosted by the US Treasury in Asheville, North Carolina. Dimon spoke at that meeting about private-sector growth prospects and is among the American CEOs invited to a White House state dinner for Xi next week, though he did not join the executive delegation that accompanied Trump to Beijing in May for Trump’s last meeting with Xi.
