Bitcoin BLAKE2b developers plan to restrict miners from unlocking newly mined tokens for 45 days, with the change scheduled for block height 973440. The chain split from Bitcoin on Aug. 8, and its native token BTCB2 is also labeled Bitcoin BLAKE2b, Bitcoin BIP-110 or XBT on some trading platforms. BTCB2 has fallen 84% from its September high of $1,799 and recently traded at about $270 to $315. Developer Luke Dashjr said some BLAKE2b mining pools are attacking the network. After the fork retained Bitcoin's difficulty, only about eight blocks were mined in the first 22 days; operations later resumed after BLAKE2b hashing was enabled and difficulty was adjusted. Most trading platforms, CoinGecko and CoinMarketCap do not currently list the chain. Neoxa said it supports the planned soft fork (backward-compatible protocol change).
