Benjamin Cowen, founder of Into The Cryptoverse, publicly withdrew from his view that Bitcoin's four-year cycle pointed to a later, deeper bottom in October 2026. He had spent much of 2026 favoring that timing after an October 2025 peak near $126,000, but Bitcoin's recovery from summer lows near $58,000 toward the low $80,000s weakened the case. Michael Saylor, a long-term Bitcoin maxi and Executive Chairman at Strategy Inc., responded with "Welcome ₿ack" as Strategy disclosed another 950 BTC purchase, bringing its holdings to 846,000 BTC. Cowen's framework was based on historical bear-market timing, moving averages and on-chain indicators, including realized price near $53,000, balanced price near $38,000, MVRV Z-score and one-year return. He had advised investors to dollar-cost average during the second half of a midterm year rather than try to identify an exact bottom. In September, Cowen said a higher high and weekly closes above the 50-week simple moving average would materially weaken the bear case; Bitcoin then rallied after the golden-cross selloff. His admission does not declare the bear market over or establish a new price target, but records that October is no longer fitting his central downside scenario as cleanly. At 1:00 PM UTC on September 21, Bitcoin traded at $85,260, up 6% over 24 hours, according to CoinGecko.
