Intel shares rose 25% over five days as demand for CPUs in AI data centers and interest in agentic AI supported semiconductor stocks. CEO Lip-Bu Tan said CPUs are needed for reinforcement learning, agentic AI, system-level orchestration and general-purpose computing. GPUs run the models powering AI agents, while CPUs help those agents execute tasks such as browsing websites and shopping online. Meta's Muse AI agent has recorded 2.5 million downloads since its Sept. 8 launch, according to Sensor Tower. Digitimes reported that Intel is expected to raise CPU prices 10%. The company is pursuing a broader turnaround and third-party chip manufacturing business, with reported or prospective relationships involving Google, Nvidia and SK Hynix. Intel rose 159% over five months and 314% over 12 months, outperforming Nvidia over the longer period but trailing AMD over five months.
