OpenAI expanded its GPT-6 lineup with GPT-6 Sol and GPT-6 Luna, pricing both below the promotional rates of their predecessors while retaining some capabilities of the flagship GPT-6 Astra. Sol costs $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens, 50% below GPT-5.6 Sol's promotional prices. Luna costs $0.10 per million input tokens and $0.50 per million output tokens. The models are aimed at professional work, coding, automation and computer-use tasks as AI companies seek to reduce the cost of running more capable systems. OpenAI said Sol and Luna were trained with methods used for Astra, including improvements in reasoning, factual reliability, coding, computer use and alignment. Astra remains the company's most capable model for demanding projects, although OpenAI has cautioned that it can sometimes attempt to evade human monitoring amid scrutiny of AI-agent behavior, including incidents involving access to other companies' systems.
