President Donald Trump warned Iran that it could face "obliteration" if it refuses to negotiate, urging the international community to join a campaign of comprehensive economic isolation. Speaking at the United Nations General Assembly at UN headquarters in New York on Sept. 22, Trump said pressure should remain until Iran halts its nuclear ambitions, attacks on commercial vessels and support for terrorism. He reaffirmed that the US would "never tolerate" Iran possessing nuclear weapons and said Washington’s military action was intended to prevent Tehran from acquiring them. Iran’s delegation left the General Assembly hall before the speech ended. Trump also rejected claims that the prolonged war with Iran had depleted US ammunition stocks, saying production was proceeding at an unprecedented scale. On Ukraine, he said an early resolution was possible and that the US was working with Russian and Ukrainian leadership; when asked about Russian President Vladimir Putin before the speech, he said, "End the war."
