IonQ shares rose 10.93% to $45.20 in pre-market trading after NVIDIA selected the company’s Superion 256 system for the first on-premise quantum computing deployment at NVIDIA’s Accelerated Quantum Research Center. The shares had closed at $40.74 after gaining 0.57% in Tuesday’s regular session. The system will connect directly with NVIDIA’s GB200 NVL72 through NVQLink and use the CUDA-Q platform to manage hybrid workloads. The companies plan research in finance, materials science, computational chemistry and future drug discovery, while publishing findings and guidance for quantum applications. IonQ introduced the sixth-generation Superion platform on September 8 and is expanding its roadmap toward 10,000 qubits and full fault-tolerant quantum computing. Superion 256 remains available for customer orders, with first deliveries and the NVAQC installation expected during 2027.
