Asian currencies broadly weakened against the U.S. dollar at 0207 GMT as elevated oil prices and high global yields continued to reinforce pressure on regional currencies, MUFG Bank’s Lloyd Chan said in a report. The dollar rose 0.3% to 157.72 yen and 0.5% to 1,360.60 won, while the Australian dollar slipped 0.1% to US$0.7018, according to LSEG data. Chan said tensions in the Middle East remained high, with no clear resolution to disruption along the Strait of Hormuz or a timetable for normalizing oil supplies.
