Korean Treasury yields rose across maturities on the 28th after a sharp increase in U.S. Treasury yields during the Chuseok holiday. The three-year yield climbed 0.113 percentage points to 4.119%, its highest level since Nov. 8, 2022, while five- and 10-year yields also advanced. The U.S. 10-year yield exceeded 5.2% and the 30-year yield surpassed 5.5%, driven by inflation concerns, resilient growth and expectations of a possible October rate increase. The won weakened to 1,365.10 per dollar as the stronger greenback and foreign selling of 3 trillion won ($2.2 billion) in Korean stocks added pressure. The Bank of Korea held a market monitoring meeting and said it would watch risks to domestic financial and foreign exchange markets.
