Manchester City has been reported as guilty of 114 of 115 alleged breaches of the Premier League’s financial rules by an independent panel, according to media reports confirmed to Reuters by sources familiar with the situation. City, which has consistently denied wrongdoing, could face penalties ranging from fines and a points deduction to relegation. Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino, now coach of the US men’s team, said the case had caused lasting damage and described the sport as having endured a period of deception if the findings were accurate. He also criticized what he viewed as inconsistent enforcement, citing Tottenham’s 18-month transfer hiatus while the club financed its new stadium. Earlier in September, Pochettino said Chelsea should lose its 2016-17 Premier League title after the Stamford Bridge club received a record fine for rule breaches in 2026, with the title awarded to Tottenham. City chief executive Ferran Soriano said the club would do everything to clear its name and that the process could take years to conclude.
