GE Vernova shares traded higher Thursday as investors assessed three major developments announced during September. The company reached an amicable settlement on September 16 resolving outstanding commercial litigation tied to the Vineyard Wind offshore project, following turbine blade failures in July 2024. The agreement removes a legal and operational overhang from the wind segment as installation activity resumes at the 800-megawatt facility. On September 23, GE Vernova secured a long-term services contract with the Egyptian Electricity Holding Company to provide Rotor Life Extension solutions for five utility gas turbines in Egypt. The deal expands the company’s services backlog and is described as supporting the reliability and operating life of North Africa’s power grid. On September 29, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission issued its first domestic construction permit for a BWRX-300 small modular reactor to the Tennessee Valley Authority for its Clinch River site in Tennessee. Jason Cooper, Chief Executive Officer of GE Vernova Hitachi Nuclear Energy, said fleet deployment, standard design and a predictable regulatory environment are important to scaling nuclear energy in the United States. GE Vernova shares were up 4.58% at $994.05 Thursday afternoon, according to Benzinga Pro data.
