Crypto entered October after a strong third quarter, with Bitcoin and Ethereum each gaining about 7% in September as Bitcoin ended the month near $83,000-$84,000 and Ethereum near $2,650-$2,700. U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs drew about $2.4 billion in the week ending Sept. 25, their strongest weekly inflow since October 2025, while Bitcoin ETF products attracted about $4.9 billion since Aug. 19. Ethereum also benefited from institutional buying, including more than $1.5 billion of purchases through BlackRock's spot Ethereum ETF products, and its first public Glamsterdam upgrade testnet is scheduled for Oct. 6. Solana roughly doubled from its June low, Chainlink gained more than 20% since early September and Bitcoin dominance fell below 60%, although that decline alone has not established a sustained altcoin season. XRP rose 10.4% in the week ending Sept. 26, while U.S. spot XRP ETFs recorded 11 consecutive weeks of inflows totaling about $1.79 billion by Sept. 25. October's so-called Uptober narrative is supported by historical Bitcoin strength and potential ETF, liquidity and asset-specific catalysts, but rising bond yields, monetary-policy uncertainty and profit-taking remain counterweights.
