Slovakia's industrial production increased 2.1% year-on-year in June 2026, reversing a four-month run of declines and marking only the second annual increase this year. The result was stronger than expectations for a 0.6% fall, with growth spread across 10 of the 15 monitored industrial sectors. Basic metals led the rebound with a 6.6% increase and the largest positive contribution to headline output, while chemicals and chemical products jumped 30.8% and machinery and equipment n.e.c. rose 6.6%. Motor vehicle manufacturing also returned to growth after four months of contraction, rising 1.7%. The main drag came from computer, electronic and optical products, where output dropped 36.5% and delivered the biggest negative contribution. On a seasonally adjusted basis (adjusted for calendar effects), industrial production fell 0.7% from the previous month. For the first half of 2026, industrial production was down 0.8% from a year earlier.
