Certified miners and mining pools (groups that combine computing power) in Kazakhstan produced 7,200 Bitcoin from the start of 2023 to May 2026, with output peaking at about 3,400 Bitcoin in 2024, data from the country's AI and digital development ministry showed. The country currently has 78 miners in operation and more than 465,000 registered mining devices, while miners paid about 35 billion tenge, or roughly $75 million, in taxes from 2023 to 2025, mainly through value-added tax (consumption tax) on imported equipment. Astana accounts for 81.5% of digital mining services, the Astana International Financial Centre hosts offices for exchanges including Binance and Bybit, and President Tokayev earlier signed a law removing a requirement that miners sell most of their output through the center's exchanges.
