Krafton overtook Nexon for the first time in both quarterly revenue and operating profit, driven by the continued strength of "PUBG: Battlegrounds" and early traction for "Subnautica 2." Krafton reported second-quarter revenue of 1.29 trillion won, up 94.9% year-over-year, and operating profit of 410.9 billion won, up 67%, both quarterly records. Its PUBG franchise posted 25% first-half revenue growth across PC, console, and mobile, while "Subnautica 2" sold more than 5 million units globally within 22 days of its May early access launch. The company still posted a net loss of 29.9 billion won because of about 310 billion won in non-operating losses tied to U.S. litigation over conditional performance-based compensation for Unknown Worlds executives. Nexon, listed in Japan, posted second-quarter revenue of 121.1 billion yen, up 2%, while operating profit fell 17% to 31.3 billion yen as creator fees, cloud spending and marketing costs rose. Even so, operating profit beat the top end of its own guidance. NCSoft delivered the strongest earnings rebound among the "3N" companies, with revenue rising 101.5% to 770.5 billion won and operating profit surging 1,053% to 173.9 billion won as "Lineage Classic" led the recovery. Netmarble increased revenue 4.4% to 749.2 billion won, but operating profit fell 20.8% to 80.1 billion won as marketing and labor costs climbed, though profit improved 50.8% from the prior quarter. In the second half, the companies are pursuing different growth plans centered on new game launches, global expansion, and live-service optimization, while Krafton and NCSoft are also pushing deeper into AI infrastructure, agentic AI (autonomous task-performing AI), and robotics-related applications.
