Malta’s annual inflation rate increased to 2.1% in July 2026 from 2.0% in June, which had been a more than one-year low. Price growth accelerated in restaurants and hotels, alcoholic beverages and tobacco, housing and utilities, furnishings and household equipment, insurance and financial services, and miscellaneous goods and services. Deflation in clothing and footwear eased. Inflation slowed for food and non-alcoholic beverages, transportation, health, and recreation and culture, while education remained unchanged at 3.2%. Consumer prices rose 0.5% month on month in July, compared with a 1.1% increase in June.
