Tempus AI shares rose 17.77% to $58.13 on Wednesday as investors linked positive Phase 3 results from Merck & Co Inc and Moderna Inc to Tempus’s planned $1.5 billion acquisition of Personalis Inc. The INTerpath-001 trial found that intismeran autogene, a custom mRNA-based individualized neoantigen therapy paired with Keytruda, significantly improved recurrence-free survival in patients with resected melanoma. The result was described as the first successful Phase 3 readout for a custom mRNA-based cancer treatment. Moderna uses Personalis’s genomic tumor-profiling and sequencing platform to identify patient-specific neoantigens for manufacturing personalized doses. Tempus had previously partnered with Personalis to commercialize minimal residual disease tests and agreed to acquire the company for $1.5 billion last month. Tempus CEO Eric Lefkofsky said the company was proud to support Moderna’s program.
