Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse said crypto has entered the mainstream after citing National Cryptocurrency Association data showing that more than 67 million Americans, roughly one in four U.S. adults, own digital assets. The 2026 State of Crypto Holders Report, produced with The Harris Poll from a survey of 10,000 cryptocurrency holders, found that Americans use crypto for payments, transfers to family and friends, financial management, charitable giving and business activities. Nearly two-thirds of respondents, or 63%, said they were more interested in using crypto in 2026 than in 2025. Female ownership rose 10% from the previous year, with women accounting for 42% of people entering the crypto economy in 2025-2026, compared with 34% among earlier adopters. The report also found that 90% of holders earn less than $500,000 annually and 23% earn $75,000 or less. Garlinghouse said, "Crypto isn't a fringe industry," and added that "the crypto voter is alive and well." His remarks followed a White House crypto summit attended by President Donald Trump, SEC Chair Paul Atkins, CFTC Chair Michael Selig and other industry leaders. Selig said the era of "political lawfare, debanking, and regulation by enforcement" was over, while Atkins called for greater regulatory certainty for crypto entrepreneurs and companies raising capital through digital assets.
