The KOSDAQ index fell nearly 5% during intraday trading on the 21st, prompting a sidecar, a temporary suspension of program sell orders, in the KOSDAQ market. The Korea Exchange (KRX) said the suspension began at 10:05:05 a.m. and lasted five minutes. At the trigger, KOSDAQ 150 futures had dropped 89.60 points, or 6.06%, from the previous session’s close to 1,387.40, while the KOSDAQ 150 spot index fell 80.71 points, or 5.48%, to 1,391.11. By 10:10 a.m., the KOSDAQ was down 40.52 points, or 4.82%, at 800.37, while the KOSPI fell 52.82 points, or 0.76%, to 6,800.76. The KOSDAQ’s intraday decline widened to as much as 5%. Despite the sell sidecar, Samsung Electronics (005930.KS) was up within the 1% range and SK hynix (000660.KS) was rising in the 3% range.
