KakaoX will not be converted into a holding company following Kakao's split into two independent entities, Kakao Investment head Kim Do-young said at a briefing on the 21st. Kim, who also serves as group investment strategy chief at Kakao's CA Council and has been named to lead KakaoX, said the council-like joint organization is no longer necessary because KakaoX and KakaoAI now have distinct business purposes. The entities will use independent governance structures, while organic cooperation between the KakaoTalk platform and subsidiaries will continue. Founder Kim Beom-su will remain founder and largest shareholder in both entities, with his personal and Kcube Holdings stakes allocated at unchanged ratios. Kim said the net-asset-based spin-off ratio does not reduce shareholder value because the companies will be valued separately when listed, and said KakaoX could receive a high market valuation based on business stability and growth opportunities.
