MANTRA halted its blockchain on August 21 after an incident involving its Cosmos EVM module, freezing transactions, transfers, staking, deposits and withdrawals while developers investigated. The team said the incident affected two wallet addresses, was contained, and did not exploit user funds. Developers identified the root cause and are testing patched release v8.4.0 on the DuKong testnet. A coordinated mainnet upgrade and restart could take place later today if testing finishes cleanly, while validators have been instructed to keep their mainnet nodes offline. MANTRA said it took a full network snapshot before starting the restart process. The native token, formerly OM, fell more than 18% from about $0.0050 to $0.0041, setting a new all-time low, before recovering to near $0.0046. It remained about 82% below its March 4 all-time high of $0.02627. The halt comes after OM plunged from above $6 to below $1 in less than an hour on April 14, 2025, wiping out roughly 90% of its market value and triggering more than $70 million in liquidations.
